First Trailer and Poster for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES
Disney has released the first trailer for Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. It debuted during the season finale of AMC's Fear The Walking Dead. For those of you who don't watch the crappy Walking Dead spinoff series, you can watch the trailer below, and it looks like it could be a fun flick! I thought it was an interesting choice not to include Captain Jack Sparrow in this first trailer because the series kind of revolves around him. However, it does feature Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar, who is on the hunt for Sparrow.
I'm actually excited about seeing Dead Men Tell No Tales, mostly because it is being directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki). Those guys have shown they have some major talent, and it looks like they brought it with them when they made this fifth installment of a franchise that was getting tired and old. The script for the film was written by Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).
Depp is joined by Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, and Stephen Graham as Scrum. Newcomers include Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent), and Golshifteh Farahani (Exodus: Gods and Kings).
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theaters on May 26th, 2017.
