Yesterday it was announced that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards has been hired to direct one of the three Star Wars spin-off films being developed by Lucasfilm. In case you were wondering if he will be back for a Godzilla sequel, the answer to that question is yes. ShockTillYouDrop got an update from Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull, who says:
“Gareth's filmmaking talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors. The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth’s imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe."
THR then reports that Edwards is not only attached to the upcoming Godzilla sequel, but he is set to direct an entire Godzilla trilogy. Edwards is a great director. I thought he did an awesome job with Godzilla, and I'm excited to see what he does with the Star Wars universe and the two Godzilla sequels he'll be developing.
