George Lucas Reveals Why He'll Never Make Another STAR WARS Movie
Is there a better embodiment of the complicated relationship between fans and the creator of the thing they're fans of than George Lucas? Even I find myself vacillating between extreme opinions of the man, cursing his name for the prequels one minute and then praising him for creating a wonderfully constructed cinematic universe the next. As much as his constant meddling with the original trilogy and refusal to release the real versions of those movies bugs me, I still have to come down on the side of being thankful for his vision.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the man responsible for the creation of Star Wars spoke up about the reasons he won't direct another movie in the series:
In case you aren't able to watch the video for some reason, I'll reprint some of his quotes:
"You make a movie and all you do is get criticized,” Lucas said, “and it’s not much fun. You can’t experiment.
I'm curious [about The Force Awakens to see if] the Force doesn't get muddled into a bunch of garbledygook. I'm curious about what happened to Darth Vader's grandkids.
But here's the best quote of them all: when asked which Star Wars character he'd choose to be, he answers, "Jar Jar Binks." Touché, sir.
