GHOSTBUSTERS: These New Little Golden Books Ain't Afraid of No Ghost

Not to be confused with artist Joey Spiotto's fake books that simply serve as art pieces, Little Golden Books are actually releasing two new Ghostbusters-themed books this year for kids (and parents) to enjoy. Both are written by John Sazaklis and illustrated by Alan Baston, and there's one devoted to Ivan Reitman's original '80s version and one devoted to Paul Feig's upcoming 2016 film. Check out the synopses:

For over 30 years the original Ghostbusters movie has been giving fans of all ages laugh-out-loud thrills and chills. Now, for the first time ever, boys and girls ages 3 to 7 can enjoy the classic Ghostbusters in a lighthearted Little Golden Book retelling that will introduce them to Slimer, Ecto-1, and, of course, the Ghostbusters!
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal-fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. The Ghostbusters are back and ready to save the world! Boys and girls ages 3 to 7 will love this laugh-out-loud Little Golden Book retelling, which features some of their favorite moments from the new hit film!

I want the new movie to succeed as much (if not more) than the next person, but calling it a "hit" at this point seems a little premature, doesn't it? Again, I hope it becomes one so a whole new generation of people — mainly young girls — can have their own cinematic heroes to look up to in this universe, but we'll have to see how audiences react. Both of these books will be available for less than five bucks each on Amazon (here and here) beginning September 13, 2016.
