GODZILLA 2 Will Be Written By KRAMPUS and TRICK 'R TREAT Screenwriter
Legendary Pictures is in the process of building their Godzilla and King Kong franchises and they just hired two screenwriters to tackle Godzilla 2. Krampus scribes Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields are set to take the franchise to the next level. Dougherty is also the screenwriter of Trick 'r Treat, X-Men 2, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Superman Returns. He's a talented writer who has made some great films, so I'm excited to see what he ends up doing with Godzilla.
Variety goes on to say that Legendary is also setting up a writer's room to help develop their upcoming Godzilla and King Kong universe. Everything that they're currently working on will eventually lead to King Kong vs. Godzilla.
Kong: Skull Island is set to be released on March 10, 2017, that will be followed by Godzilla 2 which will be released on March 22, 2019. Then there's Godzilla vs. Kong set for May 29, 2020. I'm sure Legendary is planning more films with these creatures after that as long as these turn out to be successful.
