Greg Nicotero Seemingly Revealed a Big WALKING DEAD Season 7 Spoiler

Ever since season six of The Walking Dead ended, fans have been wondering who exactly Negan killed. While we wait to find out who died when season seven premieres in October, Executive Producer Greg Nicotero may have let a big spoiler detail slip.

During an interview with EW, Nicotero talked about the decision to not make the big death reveal at the end of season six. In it, he says something interesting:

"I would say our fans are passionate, and for me personally, yeah, I was a little surprised that some of our viewers were angered by that. Because other shows that I watch and I enjoy have done similar things. They have ended with cliffhangers, or Did this person die or that person die? Or, What happened here? Or leading up to something. So yeah, I’m really proud of the episode, and I really loved it, and I was a little surprised that people had that reaction to it.
"But I’d say in retrospect, I don’t think we would have changed anything. I would have still supported doing it the way that we did it, because of the fact that the story doesn’t end there. If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn’t have felt our characters in season seven the way they need to. And the thing that I think a lot of people will get out of it is how that moment changes the entire makeup of our universe within a split second. And it’s that moment that launches our entire season seven into that direction."

I don't know if you caught the surprising reveal or not, but here it is:

"If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn't have felt our characters in season seven the way they need to."

Yes, he said deaths... plural. That sounds like there's more than one person that will die in this final scene. I just assumed that there would only be one person meeting their demise. We can only guess at this point who these characters could be. I assume that after Negan beats someone down with Lucille, one or more other character will be pissed off and attack, at which point Negan and his goons will mow them down and kill them.

It looks like season seven will start off more depressing than I thought.
