Guillermo del Toro Has an Idea for Jabba The Hutt STAR WARS Gangster Film

Guillermo del Toro came to San Diego Comic-con this weekend to promote his upcoming horror film, Crimson Peak. While talking to Yahoo, the director was asked what he would do within the Star Wars universe if here were to make a movie. In response, the filmmaker revealed an idea he has for a Star Wars Anthology gangster film that revolves around Jabba the Hutt.

“This is not real, this is me as a fat geek just geeking out and talking about it. I would do the sort of Godfather saga that Jabba the Hutt had to go through to gain control. One, because it’s the character that looks the most like me, and I like him. I love the idea of a Hutt type of mafia, a very complex coup. I just love the character.”

We don't really get a Jabba backstory in the original film saga, and if Del Toro ever got to make a movie about the character, I would watch the shit out of it! A Jabba the Hutt Godfather-type gangster movie?! That would be amazing. Disney and Lucasfilm should seriously think about doing this with Del Toro somewhere down the line. It might not be real now, but it could be!

Del Toro is extremely busy at the moment with all of the other projects that he's working on, so even if it were real, it would be awhile before he could even take on a project like this. Lucasfilm will be making Star Wars films with Disney for years to come though, so it's not impossible.
