HBO Max is Producing a NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION Series with Johnny Galecki Producing

I’m a huge fan of the National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise. Those films involving the Griswold family have always made me laugh. Well, HBO Max is now developing a series based on the Griswold family adventures that will be titled The Griswolds.

The series will see the “titular family home from vacation and explore their daily lives in the suburbs of modern-day Chicago.” While I hope the series ends up being a funny comedy show, there’s a good chance that it won’t live up to the greatness of the original films, kinda like the Ed Helms film Vacation.

Tim Hobert is attached to write and executive produce the half-hour single-camera series. Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) is also on board to executive produce alongside Holly Brown. In case you forgot, Galecki starred as Russ Griswold in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, so this is his return to the franchise.

Hobert has worked on several great sitcoms over the years such as Scrubs, Community, The Middle, Til Death, and Spin City. He has a good track record so hopefully he brings the magic to The Griswolds and gives us something fun and entertaining to watch.
