HBO To Air GAME OF THRONES Special on February 8th

TV Game of Thrones by Ben Pearson

Are you ready to return to Westeros? After the shocking conflicts of last season — The Mountain vs. The Viper, the Hound vs. Brienne, Tyrion vs. Tywin, etc. — HBO's Game of Thrones has a lot to live up to in its upcoming fifth season. Luckily, fans won't have to wait until the season premiere in April to find out what's in store for them. Winter is Coming (via Uproxx) points out that HBO has scheduled a thirty minute block for a special called A Day in the Life for 7:30pm on February 8th. That's almost exactly one year after last year's special, Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing, which was a short look ahead at the events of the fourth season.

I won't be watching this new special because I prefer to go into the new season cold and not have anything spoiled for me (I'm caught up with the show, but only halfway through George R.R. Martin's second book in the series). April isn't THAT far away, and I'd much rather roll into the fifth season with some of the show's biggest visuals preserved for me rather than have them blasted at me out of context in a montage video ahead of time... but that's just me. For those of you who have already read all of the books, or those who don't care about spoilers, you should definitely mark your calendars for February 8th. This Game of Thrones special should be a great way to kick off the night: The Walking Dead premieres at 9pm, the series premiere of Better Call Saul airs at 10pm, and John Oliver returns with a new season of Last Week Tonight at 11pm.
