Henry Cavill to Star in STRATTON For CON AIR Director
Between Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, Christian Bale did a bunch of interesting projects: Rescue Dawn, Harsh Times, The Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma, and he won an Oscar for his work in The Fighter. Between Superman movies, Henry Cavill has Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in the can and now he's lined up a starring role in Stratton for Con Air director Simon West.
Variety has the news, which explains that Stratton is an adaptation of "the first of a series of eight novels by Duncan Falconer following a Special Boat Service operative tracking down an international terrorist cell through Central Asia, mainland Europe and London." Sounds pretty generic to me, but I'll give Cavill the benefit of the doubt for now - it seems like this is a passion project for him. West has definitely directed his fair share of questionable movies, but I've enjoyed a couple of them (Con Air, The Expendables 2), so maybe he can infuse this with a sense of fun and make something that surprises us all.
