Horror Movie MAMA is Getting a Sequel From STARRY EYES Directors
Universal Pictures is moving forward with the sequel to the Guillermo del Toro-produced Andres Muschietti-directed horror film Mama. I thought the first movie was OK. I loved the first half of the film, but it completely lost me during the second half.
The studio has hired Starry Eyes filmmakers Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch to rewrite and direct Mama 2, and according to The Wrap, Jessica Chastain is not expected to return.
The original movie only made $71 million domestically, but it did that on a budget of just $15 million. The movie centered on a couple who take in their orphaned nieces after they find the nieces abandoned in the woods for five years.
There's no word on what the sequel will entail, but we'll fill you in on the details when we get them.
