Is Disney Developing a New TRON Video Game!?
Tron is one of my favorite Disney franchises. I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the movies and video games that they've made over the years. There was also that awesome animated series that they made that I wish wouldn't have been cancelled.
I'm confident that one day we will see another Tron sequel, but we haven't heard any concrete news about that in a long time. While we wait to see what is going on with that, news has surfaced that a new Tron video game could be in development.
The news comes from an interview with Oscar-winning songwriter and composer Giorgio Moroder, who says he will be working with electronic music producer Skrillex on the music for the new Tron video game.
The interview was conducted by Clash Music (Via: AICN), and here's the quote:
“I’m going to meet Skrillex next week when I’m back. I’m doing the music for a game for Disney’s ‘Tron’. We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs.
Now, AICN does point out that Tron has recently been added to Disney Infinity 2.0, so this could be for that. But it could also be for a standalone Tron game, which is what I'm hoping for. The fact that they have five themes to work on tells me it is more likely a standalone Tron game. We'll keep you updated on things as information becomes available.
I have to admit that even though I've enjoyed the video games that have been made, none of them have lived up to their full potential. The classic 1980s version is still my favorite. If Disney Interactive is working on a new game, I hope that they go all out and give fans the badass and definitive Tron game we've been looking for.
