JACOB'S LADDER Reboot To Star Michael Ealy

A remake of the 1990 Tim Robbins supernatural horror thriller Jacob's Ladder has been in the works for a few years now. It’s taken a big step forward recently as The Perfect Guy star Michael Ealy has been cast in the lead role. I have no idea if he’s a good actor or not, but I don’t like the fact that this film is being remade.

The original film followed a haunted Vietnam vet who attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of disassociation and mourning his dead child. To do this he has to “decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death.”

The new film is described as “a modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.” There are no other details, but it sounds like it’s going to be a very different kind of movie. The script was written by Jeff Buhler (Pet Cemetery, Midnight Meat Train) and Sarah Thorp (The Bounty Hunter).

The film in being directed by David Rosenthal who directed Ealy in The Perfect Guy. I didn’t see that film, as it didn’t look good and didn’t interest me at all. The critics didn’t seem to like it either — it only has a 20% Rotten Tomatoes rating. This doesn’t spark any confidence in the remake of Jacob's Ladder. It just seems like it’s going to be a waste of money. That’s a shame.
