James Gunn Gives His Take on the 2015 Oscar Nominations
Since the Oscar nominations were announced this morning, it seems like everyone has been sounding off with their opinions about what The Academy got right and wrong. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is no exception, and the filmmaker took to Facebook to post a long list of thoughts - both positive and negative - about the choices the voters made.
As usual, he makes some great points (especially about Whiplash). But there's one thing I'd like to add to his list of observations: the lack of a nomination for Best Director for Selma's Ava DuVernay. Her film was nominated for Best Picture, but for whatever reason, her peers failed to give her the respect she deserves. Scott Mendelson at Forbes wrote a great piece detailing exactly why that matters, and I'd highly recommend checking it out. Anyway, check out what Gunn had to say below.
