Jim Broadbent Joins GAME OF THRONES For Season 7
EW reports that Oscar winner and Harry Potter actor Jim Broadbent has been added to the cast of HBO's Game of Thrones for its upcoming seventh season. They aren't sure who he'll play, but they do say he'll have a "significant" part, which leads us to assume this will be a bigger deal that Ian McShane's single-episode appearance last season.
Since the show is fully beyond the books at this point, there's no telling who Broadbent could be playing. George R.R. Martin seemingly delights in introducing tons of new characters in each book, even though he's already crafted one of the most dense and populous fictional worlds in literature, so while I could speculate away about which existing character Broadbent may end up playing, my actual guess is that he'll be portraying someone from a book that hasn't been released yet. Here's hoping The Winds of Winter arrives before season seven hits HBO next summer — maybe then we'll have a chance of narrowing down the mystery.
