John Krasinski Talks About His Failed CAPTAIN AMERICA Audition

Before Captain America: The First Avenger came out in 2011, I remember pulling really hard for The Office star John Krasinski to score the role of Cap in the movie. I thought he represented an early version of the kind of outside the box casting Marvel Studios utilized when they cast fellow sitcom actor Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, but Chris Evans ultimately ended up being an excellent fit for the part.

Krasinski hasn't spoken too much about his Cap audition as far as I can tell, but when Conan O'Brien asked him about it on a recent episode of his show, he told a humorous story about why he thinks he didn't get the part.
