Jon Favreau to Direct Seth MacFarlane's Sci-Fi Comedic Drama Series for Fox

Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungles Book) has signed on to direct the pilot episode for Seth MacFarlane's latest TV series, which he will also be an executive producer on. The untitled show is a sci-fi comedy drama that is set in space 300 years in the future.

The story follows the adventures of the Orville, "a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar fleet." MacFarlane created the series and wrote the script for the pilot. He will also star in the series alongside Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes, Peter Macon and J Lee, who are all playing members of the ship’s crew.

This seems like a great project for Favreau to take on. It seems like a series he could have a lot of fun with. Production for the pilot is set to start in January 2017, after that the director will stay on as a consultant.

MacFarlane is a pretty hilarious guy and I'm curious to see him play in the sci-fi genre. I'm sure he and Favreau will make a great team.
