Jon Hamm Joins SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS

Last weekend Jon Hamm won an Emmy Award for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men. So what does a talented actor do after winning such an award? He takes a role as a character in an upcoming episode of Spongbob Squarepants!

Hamm will play a character named Don Grouper, and as you might expect, Grouper has a few things in common with Don Draper. Grouper is described as “a charismatic head ad executive” with a “sharp mind and devastating charm.”

The story for the episode in which Grouper appears will center around SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs going to the character for business advice. Krabs’ is looking to develop a line of frozen Krabby Patties. Of course, Grouper works for an ad agency called Grouper, Goby & Koi and, according to the press release, “when Don’s in the room, everyone laps up his words like overpriced organic honey.”

Nickelodeon also released the character art for Don Grouper below. I think it's great that Hamm is taking on the role! It'll be fun to see this character come to life with Hamm providing the voice.
