Joss Whedon Doubtful He Will Direct AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
In case you were still wondering if there was a chance that we could see Joss Whedon come back to direct the Avengers: Infinity War films, don’t hold your breath. We’ve already heard several reports that Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War) will continue their Marvel cinematic journey to bring those two films to life. Now in an interview with Empire (vis: CBM), Whedon confirms that he will not be coming back. Avengers: Age of Ultron will be his last Marvel film… for now. Here’s what he had to say:
“I couldn't imagine doing this again. It's enormously hard, and it'd be, by then, a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it's very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life.”
He does go on to say that he wants to remain a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some capacity. So maybe one day he’ll come back to do something else. I’d be fine with him coming back to direct any kind of Marvel film. There’s no point in limiting him to The Avengers. I do hope that he comes back to direct another Marvel movie someday, though. I hope the same thing for Jon Favreau!
