Katie Cassidy Will Return to ARROW as Series Regular in Season 6

I swear Moira Queen is the only person who stays dead in the Arrow universe. For those who were upset Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance was killed off last season, she's back in the fold. EW tells us the actress will rejoin the Arrow team as Earth 2's Black Siren for another crack at the series. Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim shared the following on Cassidy's return:

“One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us.  Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance.  This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren...We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family."

I've been pretty vocal over the years about my distaste for Laurel, and I can't say this news sits well with me. Arrow has done a lot of things right in season five, and this unwillingness to just let someone die makes me feel like they're slowly walking back into old habits. Of course, I love how The Flash continues to integrate Tom Cavanaugh into the series, so that makes me a bit of a hypocrite, but I never disliked his characters to begin with. 

How do you feel about this announcement? I wasn't all that attached to Black Siren, but maybe the change in character will allow Cassidy to do something a little better this time around.
