Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks Join Nicolas Winding Refn's THE NEON DEMON
While we wait to find out if Keanu Reeves will reprise his role in a John Wick sequel, the actor will be teaming up with one of Hollywood's most dynamic visual stylists: Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. Variety reports that Reeves and Drive star Christina Hendricks have joined the cast of Refn's next film The Neon Demon, which already has Elle Fanning in the lead role of "an aspiring model caught in a world of beauty and demise."
No word yet on who Reeves or Hendricks will be playing, and the story itself is still shrouded in mystery. So far, we know that it will be a female-driven horror film that sounds very much like the atmospheric kind of story we expect from this director. Here's what he said about the genesis of the idea:
“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.”
Reeves and Hendricks join the previously-cast Fanning, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, and Bella Heathcote. Sounds like Reeves is getting involved with another female-heavy production following his turn in Eli Roth's horror film Knock Knock, but if Joey's review is any indication of that film's quality, let's hope this one turns out much better. Production starts on March 30th in Los Angeles, so expect this one to make the festival rounds later this year or early next year.
