Keanu Reeves Offers Up a Perfectly Awesome Idea for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3
I loved John Wick: Chapter 2! I thought it was even better than the first film and it ended on such a great note that perfectly set it up for Chapter 3. In a recent interview with the Empire podcast, Keanu Reeves shared his idea for the next chapter of John Wick's story, and it's awesome!
If you haven't seen John Wick: Chapter 2 yet, then I suggest you don't read ahead because I talk about the end of the film. If you have seen the movie, then read on!
At the end of John Wick: Chapter 2 our hero was declared "excommunicado" and cut off from all of the helpful resources that he used to help accomplish his tasks and missions. These underworld services were all provided by a mysterious society that included the Continental hotel, Aurelio's chop shop, and the places he gets his suits and guns. To make things even worse, there's a $14 million contract on his head. He's given one hour before the hit goes into effect, and everyone in New York is just waiting to take him out. That's where the movie left off. Here's how Reeves says the next film should pick up!
I think the opening of the film should be Wick just trying to escape from New York. Literally trying to get off the island. Maybe he asks [Lawrence Fisburne's character] the Bowery King for help. Maybe John Leguizamo comes and helps me out. 'John, I can't do it, you're excommunicado!' Maybe the High Table shows up. And then the High Table starts firing guns. And then maybe this kind of thing starts to happen between the High Table and Continental? Maybe John is the activator of this confrontation, and perhaps there's a war? Wouldn't that be awesome?!
This isn't an official plan for now, but it totally should be! It's the perfect place for John Wick: Chapter 3 to pick up, and it could lead to another great action-packed story of badassery! As Reeves says, this could open up some great new story elements. A war between the Continental and the High Table sounds like an intriguing plot point.
What do you all think of Reeves' idea for the next John Wick flick?
