Keanu Reeves Says He's Up for a Fourth MATRIX Film Under the Right Conditions
After The Matrix Trilogy concluded with The Matrix Revolutions, I didn't expect to see any other sequels. However, The Wachowskis did leave a little tease at the very end after Keanu Reeves' Neo died so that the war between man and machine would end. At the end of the film, Sati asked, "Will we ever see him again?" And the Oracle replied, "I suspect so. Someday." That does leave the door open for a sequel if the Wachowskis ever got the urge to give the franchise a fourth chapter.
I have no idea if there has ever been any talk or consideration by anyone involved with The Matrix franchise, but if it ever did happen, Reeves seems like he'd be up for reprising his role under the right conditions. When talking to Yahoo Movies, the actor was asked if he what it would take for him to jump on board a fourth film and he said:
“The Wachowskis would have to be involved. They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not? People die, stories don’t, people in stories don’t.”
I guess there's a chance that one day we could see another Matrix movie. After all, we've been seeing a lot of revivals recently of older properties. If it does happen, it's great to hear that Reeves would be up to reprise his role of Neo.
I've gotta say, it was really cool to see Reeves and Laurence Fishburne together up on the big screen again in John Wick: Chapter 2. That made me want to go back and watch The Matrix again, which is still a great movie! I might actually be ok with another chapter to the story if they have a great story that is as good as the first film.
Would you want to see a fourth Matrix film?
