Kevin Smith Confirms MALLRATS 2
For many fans of Kevin Smith and his View Askew-niverse, Mallrats may be Smith's crowning achievement. There are definitely fans of the film out there, and you can hear them in the crowd during Smith's Hollywood Babble-On podcast (via /Film) when he confirmed that yes, a sequel is in fact on the way. The writer/director had teased the possibility late last week, but in the podcast, he speaks about the genesis of the project. Listen in starting around the 5:00 mark.
Mallrats 2: Die Hard in a Mall? Since Amazon and online shopping have largely made the very concept of malls a thing of the past, it would make sense that Smith would need to have some sort of action take place there to either keep the protagonists inside or get them there in the first place.
