Kevin Smith Plans to Kill Silent Bob in JAWS-Inspired Film Called MOOSE JAWS
Kevin Smith has another Canadian-set film project that he's developing called Moose Jaws. This will be the third film in his Canadian trilogy that also includes Tusk and Yoga Hosers. The writer and director talked about the new project in an interview with the Australian News Outlet news.com.au, and he explains that the movie is “like Jaws, only with a moose.”
I'm already sold. Smith goes on to reveal that he will reprise his role as Silent Bob in the film alongside Jason Mewes as Jay. As it turns out this is going to be the film in which he kills off Silent Bob. Since the director is openly talking about this plot point in interviews, I'm not treating it like a spoiler. If he didn't want people to know what he planned on doing, he wouldn't talk about it.
This is his explanation of the idea and how it goes down:
“I just finished writing the scene where Silent Bob gets eaten by the moose. That’s how he f---ing goes out!
"Isn’t that fun? I was talking to Jay [Mewes] about Moose Jaws and I’m like, ‘I’m thinking about bringing us in as the Captain Quint character’. And he goes, ‘Yeah, but Quint gets killed!’ I was like, ‘One of us has to get eaten’. And he was like, ‘You. Not me’. I was like, ‘Why?’ And he was like, ‘Because I wanna be in other movies!’ Fair enough, dude. So, rather than let him go out with dignity, he’ll be eaten by a fucking moose."
Well, I would have never in a million years imagined that Smith would kill off Silent Bob by being eaten by a freakin' moose! So that's going to be interesting to see. What do you think about the way Smith will kill off Silent Bob?
Smith has planned to make Clerks 3, Mallrats 2, and now he's got Moose Jaws in the pipeline. The guy is definitely keeping himself busy. I imagine this new film will shoot after Mallrats 2 and Clerks 3 because Silent Bob has to be a part of those movies.
