KINGSMAN and KICK-ASS Director Matthew Vaughn Wanted for MAN OF STEEL 2

According to a recent report from Collider, director Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass, and X-Men: First Class) is rumored to be Warner Bros. top choice to helm Man of Steel 2! If this is true, it's a directing choice that I can 100% get behind!

I love the films that Vaughn has made throughout his career. He has a fun storytelling and filmmaking style, and I think he could do some great things with Superman. The report explains:

This isn’t yet in the deal-making stage, and Vaughn could very well end up not directing the film, but he’s who Warner Bros. wants at this point in time. Moreover, sources tell us that if Vaughn for some reason doesn’t direct Man of Steel 2, Warner Bros. still wants him to helm another superhero movie in the DCEU.

Vaughn is currently in post-production on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, but apparently he's actually considering jumping on board another superhero film project when he's done. If you're wondering what Vaughn's vision of Superman could be, back in 2010, Vaughn and comic book writer Mark Millar actually pitched a Superman movie idea to the studio, but they passed on it and went with Christopher Nolan and David Goyer's pitch instead. When sharing his thoughts on what a Superman film should be, the filmmaker said:

"I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me."

This comment was made before Man of Steel was released in theaters, but I imagine that his vision of the character hasn't changed. I 100% agree with Vaughn that Superman is about color and fun! The character is a symbol of hope. Maybe he can actually bring that to the DCEU because we still have yet to see a fun and colorful version of Superman in this current rendition of the hero.

Hopefully, Vaughn decides to take on Man of Steel 2 so that he can attempt to give the fans what they've been waiting for. What do you all think about Vaughn possibly taking on Man of Steel 2?
