Kit Harington's UK Spy Film MI-5 Gets December Release in US

Those of you who regularly watch the BBC may be familiar with a spy show called MI-5, or Spooks, that ran from 2002 until 2011. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington starred in a movie continuation of the story which premiered earlier this summer in the UK under the title Spooks: The Greater Good. Now Deadline reports that same movie is getting a US release this December from Saban Films under the title of MI-5. According to the site:

The film tracks the hunt for an escaped terrorist who breaks custody during a routine handover. When MI-5 is humiliated and relations with the CIA crippled, MI-5 agent Will Holloway (Harington) must team up with his former mentor, disgraced MI-5 Intelligence Chief Harry Pearce (Peter Firth), to catch the terrorist before he commits a devastating attack in London. Jennifer Ehle, Tuppence Middleton, and Elyes Gabel also star.

I'm not sure how this film will play to American audiences, especially those who didn't watch the show, but it's good to see Harington breaking away from his Jon Snow role and exploring new options in his career. His co-star Maisie Williams just signed on to topline a film yesterdaySophie Turner is playing Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Richard Madden is appearing opposite Idris Elba in a spy thriller called Bastille Day, so it seems like the Stark children are doing OK outside of Westeros.
