Kurt Russell Might Play Star-Lord's Father in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Want to see Kurt Russell in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It might happen.
TheWrap's sources tell them that Russell is writer/director James Gunn's top choice for the role of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord)'s father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, although no offer has officially been made yet and Russell hasn't read the script. The actor is already having a heck of a year, appearing in Furious 7, Bone Tomahawk, and Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. Securing this part would be a nice way to close out 2015.
A few weeks ago, a rumor surfaced about the identity of Peter Quill's father in the film, but Gunn almost instantly debunked it. It remains to be seen whether or not Gunn was telling the truth in denying it, but it's not hard to imagine Russell playing the role that was rumored. We'll have to wait and see what kind of information shakes out of this, and whether Russell even wants the job in the first place, but having him in the MCU is definitely an exciting prospect and he seems like a perfect fit for Chris Pratt's dad and the far-out adventures of the Guardians.
