LAIKA Gives Behind-the-Scenes Look of their Pet Hospital for Coraline
I freaking love LAIKA studios. Their work is amazing and I think stop-motion animation is highly underrated. Recently, LAIKA shared a behind-the-scenes video from their 2008 movie Coraline. Coraline may look like a kid’s movie, but I would recommend waiting for them to be a bit older maybe before they watch it. It’s a good movie for adults, too. The BTS video shows some of the work that goes on when the studio needs to fix a puppet. Jeanne McIvor was lead armaturist on the project and she talks about ripping off the heads of cats and how she’d fix the cat puppets when they broke. It’s less than two minutes long but is still very fascinating to watch. Which is your favorite LAIKA film?
