MACGYVER Is Being Rebooted by Director James Wan for CBS

MacGyver is the latest classic 1980s TV series to be getting a reboot. Last week it was announced that The A-Team was getting a series reboot. To be honest, I'm surprised that a MacGyver reboot didn't happen sooner. It kinda seems like a no-brainer that could be very successful if done right.

THR reports that the series is set up at CBS, and they describe it as "a reimagining of the television series of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening."

NCIS: Los Angeles' R. Scott Gemmill will write the script and also serve as an executive producer on the action drama. Henry Winkler, who was an executive producer on the original run of the series, is also on board to produce alongside James Wan and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster.

Wan, who is currently working on The Conjuring 2, will direct the pilot episode. I'm a huge fan of Wan's work, so this series actually has the potential to be really good.
