MALL Trailer - Directorial Debut of Linkin Park's Joe Hahn

Joseph Hahn is mostly known for his creative work as the beat master for the band Linkin Park. He's also directed several of the band's music videos. The guy is crazy talented and I know he's been trying to direct a feature film for years. I'm happy to report that it's finally happened for him and he just made a distribution deal for it.

The movie is called Mall, and it's based on Eric Bogosian's 2001 novel of the same name. The story revolves around "five disaffected suburbanites whose lives come together at a shopping mall following a seemingly random shooting."  This looks like a solid movie. We actually have a trailer for it for you to check out below, and an international poster that I found above. Apparently, the film was already released in France.

Paragon Pictures picked up North American rights to the feature which stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Gina Gershon, Cameron Monaghan, Peter Stormare, and James Frecheville.

Malcom’s done with his life. Only the noise of Crystal Meth gives him a reason to keep going – everything else it has long regardless. Equipped with a bag full of weapons and self-made bombs, he makes his way to the nearby mall to really stir things up. On his personal war campaign, he not only changes his life radically, but also the fate of other people who are in the wrong place at the same time: a teenager whose favorite pastime is smoking pot in his dreary existence, a housewife, where their best days have been left behind, a greedy businessman whose only desire is to increase his wealth and a depressed pervert.

I went to high school with Hahn. We were in the same art class together and we did pole vaulting on the track-and-field team. He's a great guy and an amazing multi-talented artist, and it's so cool to see him find success in everything he's done. I couldn't be happier for him.

Hahn most recently directed the music video for “New Divide,” the Linkin Park track that appears in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and the band’s latest music video for “Until It’s Gone” from their current album The Hunting Party.

I'm excited to see how his first feature film turns out!
