Marvel Wants Marisa Tomei to Play Aunt May in SPIDER-MAN
Marvel and Sony are looking to cast Marisa Tomei in the role of Aunt May in the upcoming installment of the Spider-Man franchise. The news was reported by Variety, and if cast, Tomei will join Tom Holland, who as you know will be playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Sony and Marvel had no comment on the casting, but according to inside sources the studios extended an offer to the actress last week. I'm on board with Tomei playing Aunt May! She's a talented actress that is sure to be great in the role. She's definitely got that "cool aunt" kind of vibe!
Cop Car director Jon Watts is set to direct the solo movie, and the studios are currently looking for a writer to take on the challenge of writing a script. It's also being reported that Marvel and Sony are looking to "lock down other actors who would appear in multiple films so schedules could be worked out before shooting commences next year."
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will produce these Spider-Man films, the first of which is set to be released on July 28th, 2017. What do you all think about Tomei taking on the role of Aunt May?
