Marvel's LUKE CAGE Series is Set to Premiere in September
Netflix and Marvel Entertainment have announced that they will unleash their Luke Cage series later this year on September 30, 2016! The hero for hire made his debut in Jessica Jones and I thought Mike Colter's portrayal of him was spot-on perfection. It will be exciting to see where they take the character and how they build him as they bring him into his own solo series.
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Luke Cage is a badass hero protecting the streets of Hell's Kitchen. He possesses superhuman strength and impenetrable skin. In the comics, he's teamed up with Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist, who will also be getting his own series in the near future.
Colter will be joined by Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson will be back to reprise her role as Claire Temple.
Colter made the announcement himself in the video below at the 2:09 mark.
