Matt Damon Reveals New Story Details for BOURNE 5
Jason Bourne is coming back for a fifth chapter in the Bourne film franchise. The production is currently underway, and in a recent interview with NY Daily News, Matt Damon offers some additional details regarding the new movie and the character he plays.
“[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie.”
Yeah, these details definitely raise more questions than they answer. Damon is just keeping the intrigue alive. During a previous interview, Damon talked a little bit about the inspiration behind story they are telling:
"Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."
The actor also said that the movie starts in Greece and ends in Las Vegas, which will definitely be an interesting setting for its climactic conclusion. Paul Greengrass is directing the film, which also stars Tommy Lee Jones as a high-ranking CIA officer, Alicia Vikander as the female lead, Vincent Cassel as the villain, and Julia Stiles reprising her role as Nicky Parsons.
