MIB 23 Isn't Likely, Says Jonah Hill

Remember when Sony's emails were hacked and a bunch of interesting information was released? Among all the drama between Hollywood-folk and some Spider-Man news, there were a few interesting little tidbits of information regarding the development of a Jump Street/Men in Black crossover/sequel/reboot.

Earlier this year, it was reported that James Bobin (Muppets) was in talks to direct, and Sony even rolled out a teaser logo and title (MIB 23) shortly after that. However, speaking with the Toronto Sun recently, Jonah Hill isn't sounding very confident in the project moving forward.

"They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot; it’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.”

This film definitely has a lot of potential, but it's understandable that it would lose some quality by going against what made the Jump franchise so good in the first place. Nothing official has been announced, and it sounds like the gears are still in motion over at Sony to work this thing out moving forward. There's no doubting that these franchises and stars can bring in a lot of money for a studio, and hopefully, there's a fresh and creative way to keep the essence of the Jump Street films while incorporating the Men in Black universe. Again, Hill isn't as optimistic:

"I had the idea, but I doubt that movie will get made.”

It would be tough to rebound if they lose Hill and/or Tatum, and without original (and fantastic) directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller returning, MIB 23 might end up shelved. Here's to hoping we get a 23 Jump Street at the very least!
