Michael B. Jordan Up for the Role of Richard Pryor in Biopic

There's been a Richard Pryor biopic in the works since 2009, and for the longest time Marlon Wayans and Eddie Murphy have been linked to the project. According to THR those actors are still in the running for the role, but it also adds Chronicle's Michael B. Jordan to the list of actors up for the role. Jordan, who starred in Fruitvale Station, is the frontrunner though.

The site also reports that The Butler director Lee Daniels is in negotiations to direct the film for The Weinstein Company, which is financing the project. The movie will depict Pryor’s controversial brand of comedy and his battle with drugs. Pryor's widow, Jennifer Pryor, is also producing the film, and she "brings to the project more than 50 pages of Pryor's personal journals, which offer a glimpse into his brilliant, but dark, mind."

Daniels is a great director, and Jordan is a very talented young actor who I think could actually pull this off. I hope he's the one who lands the role.
