Michael Jackson’s Chimp Bubbles Is Getting His Own Stop-Motion Movie
Community creator Dan Harmon is set to produce a stop-motion animated film called Bubbles. The movie centers around Michael Jackson’s famous chimp, and it will offer a look into Jackson’s life from Bubbles' point of view, Here’s the description of the story from THR:
"A baby chimp is adopted by pop star Michael Jackson. Narrating his own story, Bubbles the Chimp details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release."
This sounds like it will be a fascinating movie. The screenplay was written by Isaac Adamson and was on the 2015 Black List of best unproduced screenplays. The stop-motion in the film is said to be in the same vein as Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa. They used 3D printed puppets to bring the characters to life and give the character a unique life-like appearance.
Bubbles was adopted by Jackson in 1983 from a research facility in Austin, Texas. He went to live with the pop star at Neverland Ranch and accompanied him to places including on tour at times. Apparently, Bubbles even sat in on the recording of the Jackson’s album Bad. The chimp eventually became too aggressive and was moved to monkey sanctuary in Florida where he still resides.
I'm curious to see how this movie and its story turns out.
