Michael K. Williams, Cecily Strong, and More Join Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS
Paul Feig's female-led take on Ghostbusters has been filming for a little while in Boston, with the city doubling for New York on film before the production actually moves to the Big Apple. But even though filming is already underway, the movie has added a few more cast members to its ranks.
The Wrap reports that The Wire and Boardwalk Empire vet Michael K. Williams, Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong, Ocean's Eleven actor Andy Garcia, and Veep standout Matt Walsh have come on board. Williams will play a character named Hawkins, while Walsh will play someone named Rourke. Because the plot is being kept under wraps, no other details about their characters are currently public, and The Wrap's report mentions Strong in the headline but fails to go into any detail whatsoever about her character in the body of the article. Garcia will play the Mayor of New York City.
Strong and Walsh are excellent comedic presences and should mesh well with the existing cast, which includes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and fellow SNL members Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones (along with Chris Hemsworth as their receptionist).
Meanwhile, Feig took to Twitter to share some photos of the new proton packs with fans who were looking for more detailed schematics to improve the accuracy of their cosplay costumes. Directors will often share concept art and stuff like that on social media, but it's rare that a filmmaker will directly answer a fan's question by sharing detailed prop breakdowns like this. Very cool.
