Microsoft Says They Have No Plans for a HALO Movie

Movie HaloMicrosoft by Joey Paur

Earlier this week a Production Weekly rumor that Ridley Scott would be producing a big screen adaptation of Halo hit the net. Apparently the movie would exist independently of Steven Spielberg’s series, which is set to air on Xbox Live.

Well, unless Microsoft is lying to us, there's no truth to that bit of news. They released a statement to Eurogamer that says:

The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more. As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn. We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time.

I'm sure one day a Halo movie will happen, but today is not that day. When it does happen, it will come together with all the right people in place. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later!
