Neill Blomkamp Was Developing an ALIEN Film and Here's Some Concept Art!
Director Neill Blomkamp, who has brought us films such as District 9 and Elysium, was developing an Alien film, but has apparently scrapped work on the project. It would have been part of the same franchise from Ridley Scott and James Cameron, and we have some concept art to share with you that shows how cool it would have looked.
Blomkamp revealed the news himself on his Instagram page along with several illustrations that were done for it. I've included the notes from the director that came along with each piece of art. The first one you see above came with the following caption:
"Was working on this. Don't think I am anymore. Love it though. #alien #xenomorph"
He also posted the following comments on Twitter:
"Ps this has nothing to do with the studio. I just feel like I might do something else instead. In which case why not show some work-"
"They didn't really even know I was working on it ha"
They do now, and who knows where it will lead? I love the piece that shows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) alongside an older Corporal Dwayne Hicks (Michael Biehn). Hicks was one of the main badass characters in Cameron's Aliens. At the end of the film he, Newt, Ripley, and Bishop go into hypersleep for a long journey back home. Unfortunately, Hicks and Newt never made it to Alien 3. It seems Blomkamp's version would have discarded what happened in Alien 3 and would have been more of a direct sequel to Aliens, which is great!
I'd love to get some more information on what the story of this film would have entailed. I hope something does actually end up happening with this project somewhere down the line. I'd much rather see this than Prometheus 2.

"Wtf?"
"Oh shit"
