New DRACULA UNTOLD Clip, Spot, and Featurette

Dracula Untold opens in the U.S. this Friday, October 10, and today we’re going to whet your appetite with a clip, a TV spot, and a featurette, in that order. The clip shows nice guy, family man Vlad’s altercation with Ottoman soldiers threatening his son, ending with Vlad promising to find a way to protect his country. (Another GeekTyrant editor said, “Thanks, vampire Wolverine” at the end of the clip. You’ll get it once you watch it.) The TV spot focuses on his transformation into Dracula, and the featurette looks at the stunt work and fight choreography in a large battle scene that happens post transformation. There you go, I think that’s the whole movie. You’re welcome.

Dracula Untold is a part of the new Universal Monsters franchise, because every studio wants their own Marvel-style cinematic universe. It opened in several other markets this last weekend (including Fiji!), and did about $21,000,000 at the box office. The Herts and Essex Observer gave it a very tepid review, but I don’t really care. I’m a sucker for any new retelling of an old myth, fable, fairy tale, folklore, etc. Even if it ends up being SO BAD. Plus, I think Luke Evans is kind of fantastic. He was the best part in the execrable Immortals, and I would watch him in just about anything. Also, that dragon armor is amazing.

The movie was directed by Gary Shore and also stars Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Charles Dance, Charlie Cox, and Samantha Barks.
