New HAN SOLO Movie Details Reveal His Real Name Might Not Be Han Solo… Wait, What!?

Thanks to Disney CEO Bob Iger, we've learned some new details about the Han Solo film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently in production on.

We learn that the film will follow Han from the ages of 18 to 24-years-old. It will follow his adventures of how he acquired the Millennium Falcon and met Chewbacca. Lando obviously plays a big role in Solo's life. This is what Iger told a group of students at a special USC lecture:

"That picks up with Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24. There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo’s life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film.

Most of that is pretty obvious stuff, but the one most surprising comment is when Iger dropped this bit of information:

"But you will also discover how he got his name."

That seems to indicate that Han Solo's real name isn't Han Solo! But Iger could also mean we could discover how he made his name in the smuggling trade? I don't know, but if Han's literal real name turns out to be Han Skywalker, I quit.

It just seems really weird that after all these years of thinking Han Solo's name was really Han Solo, that's all going to change. If he did end up changing his name to Han Solo, I assume his original given name is pretty lame, something like Delbert Dumbbutt. I have mixed feeling about this whole Han Solo name thing. Don't come in here and tell me that Han Solo's name really isn't Han Solo!

On a side note, we also learn from Woody Harrelson that he'll be playing Han's mentor in the film and that his name is Beckett. Maybe he's the guy who teaches Han how to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. I hope that's in the movie! I've always wanted to see him do that!

Regardless of the name, I'm still excited about the movie. Han Solo has such a mysterious past, and I'm excited to see these earlier stories of the character play out on the big screen!

The untitled Han Solo film opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.
