New Korean Animated Film Criticized for Looking Like SPIRITED AWAY
A lot of people are upset after seeing a trailer for a Korean animated film that looks a lot like the Hayao Miyazaki classic Spirited Away. Kotaku writes that dislikes are raining down on the Youtube trailer for Lost In The Moonlight, which according to the director is nothing like the Japanese animation at all.
I can't really agree with him after looking at the trailer. At first, I was like, "Yeah young girl in a mystical wonderland that's 1/3rd of anime feature films," and then I saw the Hotel, and the humanoid animals, and the inanimate living objects, and a dragon, and now I'm like "this is Spirited Away." Really the only thing missing are the pig parents!
Unless we're talking about legal ramifications, however, it's not like this is the first film to mimic another. This just looks like a low rent version of the real film. We'll see if its box office debut reflects that!
