New MAN OF STEEL Sequel Confirmed by Henry Cavill's Management
Not long ago it was reported that Warner Bros. was moving forward with a sequel to Man of Steel. It wasn't confirmed at the time, but it's not hard to believe the studio would make another Superman solo film, it's just never been put on the official release schedule.
Well, Henry Cavill's management has now confirmed that a Man of Steel sequel is coming. While talking to Newsweek, Dany Garcia spoke about Cavill and explained that there are some big things in the works. She said:
“Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world.”
Even though I haven't been completely sold on Zack Snyder's vision of Superman, I love Cavill in the role. He really is the perfect actor to take on the legendary superhero, but I wish that they material he had to work with was better.
I hope everyone involved with this upcoming Superman film will have learned from past mistakes and actually develop a Superman movie that long-time fans can be proud of. A Superman film that shows the character in the light and not in the dark, a positive and hopeful version of the character who isn't brooding all the time.
There's still hope that someone has the talent and vision to give us a new definitive Superman movie. There's no official word on when the film could be released, but WB has two slots open for a couple of untitled DC project for 2018 and 2019. So it could slip into one of those, but I imagine it won't happen until after Ben Affleck's Batman solo film is released.
