New PREDATOR Sequel Script Has Been Completed
After appearing in a small role in the original movie, Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang writer/director Shane Black is developing a new Predator film that will reinvent the franchise for 20th Century Fox. Fred Dekker, Black's writing partner and co-writer of the beloved 1987 film Monster Squad, is co-writing this screenplay as well, and he just took to Facebook to announce that a draft of the script has been completed and turned in to the studio.

We still don't know exactly what the new story will entail, but a few months ago, producer John Davis gave us a little idea of what we can expect by saying "the writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’"
This film will follow Predator, Predator 2, and 2010's Predators, the latter of which was meant to restart the franchise but didn't earn quite the reception the studio was hoping. I'm very curious to see how Dekker and Black will "reinvent" the franchise from a different perspective (does that mean we'll see the story from the Predator's POV?), and hopefully we'll find out more information about this project sooner rather than later.
Who knows? Maybe Schwarzenegger will actually end up liking this one. My guess is he'll appear in a cameo. No release date for Predator 4 has been announced yet.
