Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Dead At 55

Incredibly sad news breaking this evening, as Nintendo has issued a statement reporting the death of its President, Satoru Iwata. According to Kotaku, Iwata passed at the age of 55 due to complications from a bile duct growth. Their official statement is found below.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

A key player throughout Nintendo's success over the years, Iwata worked on games such as Earthbound, Kirby, and served in supportive roles in the Mario and Legend of Zelda series. He was promoted to president of Nintendo in 2002 and also served as the CEO for Nintendo of America starting in 2013.

Truly a huge loss for Nintendo, and a sad day for all of gaming.
