Nintendo Teams With Universal For Rides and Character Appearances at Theme Parks
How would you like to go on a Mario-themed ride at Universal Studios? How about a Star Fox space simulator? Want to snap a pic with Luigi? It seems as if all of that could soon be possible, because Variety reports that Nintendo has teamed up with Universal Studios with the intention of creating rides, attractions, and character appearances for attendees to enjoy when they visit the theme parks.
There aren't many details available at the moment, but this deal marks the first one of its kind for Nintendo, who is notoriously stingy when it comes to their intellectual property. They've largely kept to themselves over the years, but as their video games fall behind its competitors' in cultural perception, the company is beginning to expand out of just gaming and into other realms of entertainment. There's also some talk that they're looking to produce video content based on its characters, which is good news for fans who were excited about news of a Legend of Zelda TV series a few months ago. The company later denied that show was happening, but now it appears that they might be open to the idea, so we'll keep you posted when we know more.
