Official Details on Andy Serkis' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Character
Ever since Andy Serkis joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been wondering if he'd appear as a normal-looking human character or if he'd be portraying a performance-capture character instead. Despite a couple of trailers and a slew of new information from the Vanity Fair interviews over the past few weeks, we still didn't know the answer. But that's all changed thanks to StarWars.com, which reveals that Serkis will be playing a performance-capture character named Supreme Leader Snoke. (He's the guy who delivered that dialogue in the first teaser trailer about the awakening of the dark side and the light.)
The image and new information is found in an interview with photographer Annie Leibovitz (who took the Vanity Fair photos, as well as the new image of Serkis above), but no further information is given, leaving us to speculate wildly about who Supreme Leader Snoke is, what exactly he's leading, and why. The whole piece is worth reading, but that's the only relevant new info that came from it, so feel free to take to the comments and let us know your thoughts. Is Snoke the Supreme Leader of the New Order, or something else? His voice certainly sounded sinister, and that title makes him seem like a villain to me.
