OUTATIME Trailer Restores The BACK TO THE FUTURE DeLorean to its Former Glory

The DeLorean from Back to the Future is one of the most famous and instantly recognizable movie cars of all time, right up there next to the Ghostbusters' hearse or the Batmobile. The original car from the film was in bad shape a few years ago, so a joint effort between the studio and a fan movement to restore it resulted in the car being completely renovated, and it's now on display at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The restoration was captured in a documentary called Outatime that will be partially released on the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of BTTF later this month, and director Steve Concotelli has shared the trailer on his YouTube page (via /Film). The version that'll appear on the Blu-ray is a shorter version than the full feature the filmmakers intended, and they raised money through Kickstarter for a feature-length movie that they're still working on. But, like all of us, they're slaves to time: since October 21st is Back to the Future Day and the Blu-ray release is coming out, they had to put out a shorter version perhaps a bit quicker than they would have liked. Check out the trailer below:

Available on the 30th Anniversary "Back to the Future" Box set, available October 21!

Structurally, this seems like it has a lot in common with American Chopper or one of those shows on the Discovery Channel or TLC: a bunch of talking heads, shots of people working on the restoration in a workshop, you know the drill. But for those who are obsessed with BTTF and can't get enough, the movie may be worth a watch.
