PACIFIC RIM 2 Production Has Reportedly Been Delayed
It looks like Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 (also known as Pacific Rim: Maelstrom), is having some problems. According to Latino Review, the production of the highly anticipated sequel has been delayed. This is what they are reporting:
"Originally slated to shoot in Toronto in November of this year, we're now being told that the production for Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has been delayed until 2016--what month specifically, we don't know. The reason for the delay is also unknown at this time, but there's a good chance this will negatively affect the release date, which is currently set for August 4th, 2017."
The site reached out to Legendary Pictures for a comment, but they were told that they were not allowed to talk about it right now.
I don’t know what it is about the projects Del Toro works on, but for some reason, many of the projects he develops end up being cancelled. Hopefully Pacific Rim: Maelstrom doesn’t fall into that black hole with all of his other awesome discarded projects that will never happen. I would really like to see these giant Jaegers and Kaijus battle it out again!
The story is set to take place a few years after the first film concluded, and it might feature a Jaeger and Kaiju hybrid beast. As always, we'll keep you updated on any developments.
